According to Ayurveda, India’s 5000 year old healing system, there are three Doshas, or Mind/Body types that we are categorized in. Though some of us are pure single Dosha, most of us are a mix of two, lacking in the third. Since the philosophy of Ayurveda is finding that balance, it’s important to lean into which Dosha attributes that are lacking in your life.
Let’s delve into this idea a little more…
Trouble focusing and/or mind can’t stop racing?
YOU HAVE A VATA IMBALANCE.
The best way to balance a monkey minded Vata Dosha is by getting grounded. Routine may be boring but is very beneficial for Vata types. Try meditation in the morning and/or evening at the same time daily, and attend a RESTORATIVE yoga class.
Quick tempered or easily frustrated/irritated?
YOU HAVE A PITTA IMBALANCE.
Pitta’s are hot in every sense of the word! Summer is the season of Pitta which can be tough for this Dosha that easily overheats. Keep cool (cold showers, jump in a pool or the ocean) as well as keep your cool by trying a slow moving GENTLE FLOW yoga class.
Feeling lethargic or mentally “stuck”?
YOU HAVE A KAPHA IMBALANCE.
Kapha types have a hard time getting motivated, and it can be especially hard getting back into a routine after being stuck in the house for 15 months. Signing up for an OPEN FLOW or POWER FLOW yoga class will most certainly get you on the right track and help shake out the fogginess.
